Set in the West Wight harbour town of Yarmouth, Landguard is a Grade II listed black and white cottage which has been standing opposite the town’s historic church since as far back as the Georgian era. Restful, cosy and immaculately finished, it’s an ideal base for exploring the best the Island’s west side has to offer.
Turning Landguard’s chunky brass doorknob and stepping inside, guests will find a bright and airy interior with an instantly calming ambience. Leading from the hall, there’s a comfy and welcoming lounge (with gas fire and Smart TV) as well as a stylish, formal dining room with seating for up to eight and an ensuite double too. Next door you’ll discover the sleek designer kitchen, where modern appliances, Nespresso coffee machine and walk-in pantry are at the ready if you fancy letting your inner Nigella Lawson out.
Heading through the back door, Landguard boasts a tranquil and beautifully manicured walled garden with glimpses out to the chimney pots and church spires of Yarmouth. Here you’ll also find the paved patio area where guests can dine under the setting sun or soak in the peaceful seaside atmosphere with a cup of coffee.
Back inside and up the stairs, Landguard’s second floor is home to one ensuite double and two further double rooms which share the family bathroom. Also on this level is a handy extra lounge area with TV and sofa bed - which can be made up on request to sleep a further two guests (taking the total to ten).
Yarmouth is a popular harbour town on the Island's northwest coast and offers visitors excellent sailing facilities, a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants along with access to miles of picturesque walks along the Yar Estuary, the surrounding countryside and coastal paths. You’ll also find some of the best Island beaches nearby with Colwell Bay, Compton and Freshwater Bay all just a short drive away.
Colwell Bay offers a traditional seaside café and beach shops selling everything from ice-creams and snacks to inflatable toys and wet suits. If you’re looking to make a day of it you can also hire deckchairs and beach huts from the beach shop as well as paddle boards too.
The town of Freshwater is a short drive to the west, with a range of independent shops and cafés, plus the West Wight Sports Centre with its indoor swimming pool and climbing wall for those wet weather days. Watersports enthusiasts can hire sea kayaks at Freshwater Bay and explore the caves or even go coasteering, whilst the surfers amongst you will enjoy nearby Compton Beach.

Landguard is located in the very centre of Yarmouth, with car parking nearby and the Lymington to Yarmouth ferry terminal just a minute or two’s walk down the road (extra convenient if you’re arriving on foot).
There is parking for an hour outside the front of the property subject to availability to load and unload your vehicle.

The property will be available from 4pm on your day of arrival and check out time on the day of departure is 10am.
The property is equipped with everything you will need including utilities, bed linen and towels.

July 2024Brilliant location right in the centre of Yarmouth, yet still quiet and private. Fabulous bathrooms and great back garden. Kitchen had most of the basics. A non stick saucepan would have been fab and a gas bbq. The charcoal bbq was adequate but a gas one would be amazing. Great washing and drying facilities, spacious hall, stairs and landing and gorgeous carpeting / flooring throughout. Comfortable beds and pillows. The managing company omitted to make up the sofa bed as requested but swiftly solved the problem when they realised it was their mistake. Very polite and responsive, would book again. Thank you for a fabulous stay.
