Snug, homely and filled with character, Didi’s Cottage is a freshly refurbished holiday cottage, tucked away in a quiet corner of Cowes. Set amongst a string of period properties, just behind the town’s historic boatyards, it makes a great choice for tranquil retreats whilst still being very well-connected (the High Street, ferry terminal and chain ferry to East Cowes are all just a short walk away).
At Didi’s Cottage, the heart of the home is the lounge, where the warm lighting, soft and sinkable seating and tasteful wood panelling give a nice, cosy atmosphere - ideal for settling down to watch something on the 40-inch Smart TV. You’ll also find a stylish dining room and a well-equipped kitchen next door - featuring Smeg oven, fridge, dishwasher and De’Longhi coffee machine.
Heading up the stairs, two restful double bedrooms await, decorated in calming neutral tones with a nautical nod here and there, hinting at the town’s maritime past. Workspaces are on hand (if those emails just simply can’t wait) and a smartly fitted-out bathroom is at the ready, offering a choice between freestanding bath or walk-in shower.
Stepping out the back door of Didi’s Cottage, you’ll come to the lush lawned garden and paved patio area - one of our guests’ favourite parts of the property. As one recent review put it: “Didi’s is a beautifully appointed cottage with a sunny little garden. We had a really enjoyable, tranquil holiday here, with blue skies - in January!”
Didi’s Cottage is located in a quiet cul-de-sac, in a peaceful part of town. There is on-street parking available on a first come first served basis and all parts of Cowes are within easy walking distance.
Cowes is the Isle of Wight’s nautical capital, famous for internationally renowned boat racing and a long history of shipbuilding and sailmaking. The town’s High Street is home to a sophisticated selection of independent shops and businesses - including top-notch places to dine such as Smoking Lobster, The Coast Bar, Heron at Cowes and The Garden. For those interested in all things maritime, don’t miss the brass cannons outside the Royal Yacht Squadron (fired to signal the start of many a boat race) and also the Classic Boat Museum and its collection of almost ninety historic vessels.

November 2024Very helpful, very clean and tidy house within great walking distance of Cowes hight street, and parking wasn't an issue.

October 2024Beautiful terraced house, with lots of thoughtful touches. Well located in West Cowes, just a short walk from the high street and chain ferry to east Cowes. Really welcoming for our dog and nice to have a garden with some grass.

September 2024Easily the best and most comfortable stay we have had. Highly recommend that you stay here. I think the front garden could be smartened up to make the cottage from outside, more appealing. This is not a complaint but a recommendation.

September 2024Didi’s cottage was perfect! lovely and clean and the perfect location being a 5 mins walk into Cowes town. It was the perfect base for our stay in the Isle of Wight. We would definitely recommend.

June 2024The photos really don't do the cottage justice. It's beautifully decorated and furnished. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. As for the bathroom, it's fabulous with a great walk in shower and a huge bath. We really enjoyed our stay here. It's an easy walk in to Cowes which has everything you need. Didi's cottage is a great base to stay when you want to discover the delights of the island. Nowhere is more than 35 minutes away. All in all this is the best Airbnb we have stayed in.

June 2024We have had a wonderful stay at Diddie Cottage, and would love to stay again. There are some lovely touches in the house decoration wise and a wide array of utensils in the kitchen which was fab. Comfy beds and a huge shower and bath! THE ONLY constructive feedback would be that the taps in the bathroom are stiff and awkward to shut off when wet!!

May 2024We had an excellent stay, the house was clean and in very good condition. The hosts were very good which made for an easy and worry free experience. The location is good with only a short walk to the hight street which is full of restaurants and shops. Just beyond the high street is a lovely esplanade which is great for a stroll. Overall a great experience.

April 2024Great location, easy walk into Cowes and good for parking to visit the rest of the island. Accommodation was perfect, better than in the pictures, couldn’t fault it, thanks for a great trip

April 2024The house is beautiful. The bathroom is devine with a huge bath & stunning shower & the bedrooms are a great size, plenty of towels & clean bed linen. There is a lovely garden with seating. The location is great, only a short walk to Cowes high street & just round the corner from the chain ferry. There are only a few little issues we found with the property; The road itself is very hard to park on, spaces get taken quickly. There is a high step to the kitchen which wasn't easy for young children/elderly & the stairs corkscrew quite tightly. Plates etc were in the dining area not in the kitchen so this made plating up food in the kitchen a little tricky. There was also no welcome items like in some airbnbs, other than an open box of teabags, a used jar of coffee & some other condiments, so a little disappointed to read the previous reviewer had a bottle of prosecco waiting for them! Overall, these are minor things, we had a wonderful stay & would love to stay again. Highly recommend.

April 2024We had a fantastic stay at Didi’s place. Central location to explore the island. Do not be dismayed as you enter the street which is a little tired, the house its self is beautiful. Spacious rooms, decorated beautifully with everything you need. We meet Suzanne on the day we arrived, she was warm and welcoming and gave us lots of recommendations for restaurants and things to do with our teenage sons. The little Doggy basket full of goodies for our dog was a thoughtful touch as was the bottle of Prosecco in the fridge. The place was spotlessly clean and newly renovated. Comfy beds and spacious bedrooms. Only a five minute walk into cowes high street. I highly recommend The smoking lobster and The coast for dinner. On the rocks in Yarmouth and The Hut at Cowell bay was divine also. The Needles went down a treat with the boys as did Axe throwing and Archery at Tapnell farm. With the house so central nothing is further than a half hour drive away. Would certainly recommend and stay again.
