Paskins Apartment, Cowes High Street - Sleeps 4

Entire home/flat

Entire home/flat
4 Guests
2 Bedrooms
2 Beds

On the Island’s northern coastline, located amongst the hustle and bustle of central Cowes, is Paskins - a Grade II listed, first-floor apartment, ideally situated to make the most of the nearby restaurants, bars and independent retailers. Well-equipped and homely, with a few stunning period features here and there, it’s no wonder this holiday home gets such glowing feedback from its guests.

The space

After stepping through the front door and heading up the stairs, visitors to Paskins will find a light and welcoming apartment, centred around a cosy lounge with an L-shaped sofa and Smart TV. Next door is the kitchen, with a dining table that seats four, plus everything you’d expect for the perfect self-catering stay (including kettle, toaster, microwave, oven, hob and dishwasher).

The master bedroom comes with a zip-and-link double bed (which can be converted to twin beds on request) as well as a historic red-tiled fireplace and a sleek and sophisticated en-suite shower room. There’s also a light and airy second bedroom (another zip-and-link double which can be switched to a twin) with access to the family bathroom - which includes an inviting roll-top bath, with a shower over for those who prefer it.

The neighbourhood

Located on the winding High Street of Cowes, Paskins is within easy reach of the town’s pubs, bars, shops and restaurants - with The Smoking Lobster, Coast Bar and The Heron in Cowes all spots to dine in that Swysh highly recommend. The foot passenger ferry to Southampton is just a minute or two walk away, whilst an M&S Food Hall, as well as an independent baker, fishmonger, butcher and wine seller, can all be found close by.

Cowes is the Isle of Wight’s nautical capital, home to internationally famous yacht clubs and some of the biggest sailing events around. In recent years the town has developed a reputation for top-class restaurants and an interesting assortment of retailers stretching across Bath Road, the High Street, Shooters Hill and Birmingham Road. There are beaches and coastal walks to the west of Paskins, whilst venturing inland will bring you to the Georgian-era Northwood House - which hosts important annual events such as the Isle of Wight Literary Festival and The Great Wight Bite. There’s also a chain ferry which runs to East Cowes, ideal if you’re planning to head up York Avenue and visit Queen Victoria’s former seaside home at Osborne.

As Paskins is located on the pedestrianised High Street, there is no on-site parking however long-stay car parks can be found close by at Mornington Road and Park Road, plus you may be able to find free on-street parking in unrestricted areas.

Very highly recommended, we loved our stay at Paskins. The apartment was in a brilliant location in the heart of Cowes and lovely restaurants, shops and picturesque harbour and walks were all on the doorstep. Paskins was pristine, well equipped and the beds and linens were really comfy. We couldn't have done better with our choice and would love to return.

The hosts were great from start to finish. They helped us book the ferry with the discount, and when the ferry was delayed they also helped us get a refund. The place itself was really nice and had pretty much everything we needed. I notice that others complained about noise as it was on the High Street, for us it wasn't too bad. There was some noise, but nothing to keep you up night, although our stay wasn't during any special events.

Nicely appointed and central. Clean and well equipped, the flat is extremely comfortable and, considering it's central position, peaceful. It was easy to walk everywhere and parking was not a problem.

A lovely apartment, clean and very central to restaurants and pubs. Can be a bit noisy late a night as on high Street but you don’t hear anything when earplugs are in. Overall a great stay! Thank you Swysh!

Wonderful accommodation - just loved the fact that we didn’t have to drive for a little shopping and eat at some wonderful local restaurants. We really enjoyed our walks to the beach. Great spot if you are looking to travel to a few locations. Gave 4 stars for the location as listing says it’s suitable for families which the apartment is but not the location. The high street is externally noisy (and so are the neighbours) and it continues through most of the night. Not suitable for young families (we took our 3 and 5 year old). But we really did love the apartment and is great for young people, anyone who enjoys the night life and the sea views and walks. It had everything you need in the apartment to get settled in very quickly. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay here and enjoy the island.

It is the place we would like to stay in our next visits. Clean, close to the heart of Cowes. The low rating I gave is for the noise coming from the high street since we have a 12 mo baby. I guess this will be not a big deal for the singles and for the families with no small kids. One more comment for further communications and improvements : while we are booking the flat we asked for baby bed, and last day we asked a place to store our luggages while waiting our scheduled ferry. No response provided. Sea view was a plus for us. I would give 9/10 to the over all stay experience. Thanks to host and the support team.

Wonderfully cosy flat which has everything you need. The sitting room is particularly useful, comfortable and cosy on rainy days and to spend a chilled-out evening. Very clean and very well equipped. Very comfortable bedroom and beds. We can recommend this place strongly!

Swysh communicated well and responded swiftly to our queries. The apartment was superb, well appointed and clean. It is centrally located for the town centre. The recommended free parking was full for the whole time we were in Cowes. The paid parking was only a 6 minute walk away and not too expensive for 24hrs. It was windy while we were staying, and there are flags hanging from the buildings up High Street. Our only criticism was the 'cracking' noise created by the flag flapping in the strong wind (on the building opposite the apartment) - it was particularly loud on the last night and interrupted all our sleep. However, we would not hesitate to stay at the apartment if we visit IOW again.
