On the Island’s northern coastline, located amongst the hustle and bustle of central Cowes, is Paskins - a Grade II listed, first-floor apartment, ideally situated to make the most of the nearby restaurants, bars and independent retailers. Well-equipped and homely, with a few stunning period features here and there, it’s no wonder this holiday home gets such glowing feedback from its guests.
After stepping through the front door and heading up the stairs, visitors to Paskins will find a light and welcoming apartment, centred around a cosy lounge with an L-shaped sofa and Smart TV. Next door is the kitchen, with a dining table that seats four, plus everything you’d expect for the perfect self-catering stay (including kettle, toaster, microwave, oven, hob and dishwasher).
The master bedroom comes with a zip-and-link double bed (which can be converted to twin beds on request) as well as a historic red-tiled fireplace and a sleek and sophisticated en-suite shower room. There’s also a light and airy second bedroom (another zip-and-link double which can be switched to a twin) with access to the family bathroom - which includes an inviting roll-top bath, with a shower over for those who prefer it.
Located on the winding High Street of Cowes, Paskins is within easy reach of the town’s pubs, bars, shops and restaurants - with The Smoking Lobster, Coast Bar and The Heron in Cowes all spots to dine in that Swysh highly recommend. The foot passenger ferry to Southampton is just a minute or two walk away, whilst an M&S Food Hall, as well as an independent baker, fishmonger, butcher and wine seller, can all be found close by.
Cowes is the Isle of Wight’s nautical capital, home to internationally famous yacht clubs and some of the biggest sailing events around. In recent years the town has developed a reputation for top-class restaurants and an interesting assortment of retailers stretching across Bath Road, the High Street, Shooters Hill and Birmingham Road. There are beaches and coastal walks to the west of Paskins, whilst venturing inland will bring you to the Georgian-era Northwood House - which hosts important annual events such as the Isle of Wight Literary Festival and The Great Wight Bite. There’s also a chain ferry which runs to East Cowes, ideal if you’re planning to head up York Avenue and visit Queen Victoria’s former seaside home at Osborne.
As Paskins is located on the pedestrianised High Street, there is no on-site parking however long-stay car parks can be found close by at Mornington Road and Park Road, plus you may be able to find free on-street parking in unrestricted areas.
